We celebrated our golden jubilee of presence in the U.S.A. on October 29th. Because our Church would not be able to hold the expected number of guests, we availed of St. Elizabeth’s Church adjacent to the monastery. We were grateful for the kind hospitality of Rev. Robert Heffernan, the pastor. There was ample room at the sanctuary for Archbishop Henry Mansell and twelve other priest concelebrants, and at the nave around 200 guests: local and from farther away. Thanksgiving Mass was appropriate. The Archbishop alluded, in his homily to the well chosen scripture readings and the beautiful singing and music. Our hearts were filled with joy and praise as we recalled the favors of the Lord: the graces that upheld us these 50 years, his indwelling and abiding fidelity that is a pledge of his remaining in us in the future . The liturgy of the Eucharist carried our gratitude and thanksgiving to the Most High. “We will sing for ever of the mercies of the Lord”. After the Mass, we headed towards the Monastery for refreshments and a good chat with our friends who supported us all throughout in many, many ways.
